My ode to holidays

Here's to spontaneous holidays! Jumping on buses on the spur of the moment, Jumping off trains without a plan! A camera or none-  Here's to good holidays Here's to bad holidays To holidays that turn out to be much fun than the planning To those that turn out much worse! To rest in the midst of chaos To good memories -  alone or with others To good times! 'cos fun is spontaneous and can't be planned!   There's nothing like a bit of nature to remind you of God's greatness! "How magnificent are Your works, LORD, how profound Your thoughts!" Psalm 92:5 (HCSB) O Lord our God, the majesty and glory of your name fills all the earth and overflows the heavens.  You have taught the little children to praise you perfectly. May their example shame and silence your enemies! When I look up into the night skies and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you have made—     I cannot understand how you can bother

Foundations

Scrawled on the foundations of an old castle I once visited was a drawing depicting the crucifixion of Jesus and his Saints.  Hundreds of years later, guests from around the world come to this castle, not to look at the drawing of the crucifixion, but on a signature scrawled on a pillar - the signature of Lord Byron. Done years later, after the crucifixion drawing (a newer, more recent occurrence). Seeing this, I kind of wondered ... First, what is your foundation on? This magnificent castle built in the 11th century still stands because it is built on a natural rock. What is written on your foundation? Are you paying attention to your foundation or has the love that was scrawled on it been over taken by recent events? I know what is scrawled on my foundation ... and again today I ponder the depth and weight of these three words ... "paid in full". What more could i ask for? Than this reassurance of love? I'm forgiven. This much I choose to remember. This fact I c

More on Friends!

I found this quote on friendship really inspiring. I hope it blesses your day as it did mine. I hope it reminds you that true friends are gifts from God and we should value them.  "B ut in Friendship, being free  of all that, we think we  have chosen our peers.  In  reality, a few years'  difference in the dates of  our births, a few more  miles between certain  houses, the choice of one  university instead of  another, posting to  different regiments, the accident of a topic being raised or not raised at a first meeting—any of these chances might have kept us apart.  But, for a Christian, there are, strictly speaking, no chances. A secret Master of the Ceremonies has been at work. Christ, who said to the disciples "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you," can truly say to every group of Christian friends "You have not chosen one another but I have chosen you for one another."  The Friendship is not a reward for our discrimination and goo

To Friends!

Here's to good friends! To seemingly bad friends! To loud friends and silent friends To friends whose laughter drive away sorrow And friends whose presence drive loneliness back into the shadows Friends radiating sunshine on cold winter days A cup of Coffee (scratch that, Tea), conversation, a burden shared. For friends who don't judge but listen and lend a helping hand. In the midst of the "I told you so's" is  a shoulder I know I can always lean on A kind word, a thoughtful prayer, a smile, an embrace, Food! oh yes food! The joys of sharing and caring for each other. Happy chatter, soulful moments Tears shared, words said, Today, tomorrow, forever I know I have a friend in you For this honour and privilege, I am truly grateful! Michael W. Smith - Friends
